Charles J. Fogle, 45, of 160 S. Main St., West Mansfield, was charged with two felony counts of forgery and theft related to bad checks that he allegedly cashed at Fields Grocery, 139 Main St., West Mansfield.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to the business about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday in reference to bad checks.
The business owner said June 8, he observed that two $400 checks, cashed June 6 and June 7, respectively, by the defendant, had bounced back from the bank.
Deputies spoke with the Fogle, who admitted that last week he wrote the two checks using his deceased father’s account and cashed them at the grocery store in order to “help a friend.” He said he wrote the checks to himself and also forged his father’s name on the checks.
Fogle was lodged in the Logan County Jail without incident.
