Shawn P. Connelly, 42, of 117 E. Williams Ave., Bellefontaine, was charged with a felony count of abduction related to an incident Tuesday at 602 E. Center St., West Mansfield.
His wife, Tomasenia L. Connelly, 36, of the same address, also was charged with domestic violence and both defendants were lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the West Mansfield address about 4:20 p.m. on a report from a juvenile who said his parents were arguing and physical violence was taking place between them. He also said his father would not allow his mother to leave the home and urged deputies to hurry.
When deputies arrived, they spoke with Mrs. Connelly, who appeared to be emotionally distraught.
She said Mr. Connelly had been drinking all day and that she had wanted to leave the residence during the argument, but he wouldn’t allow her to and he had her vehicle keys.
She later told deputies that he had grabbed her by the throat and that she then struck him in the face to get away from him.
Deputies spoke with her husband, whom they observed to be intoxicated. He reportedly changed his story multiple times about what had occurred that day and deputies located Mrs. Connelly’s vehicle keys in his pocket.
Deputies observed that he had blood on the front of his shirt and also superficial cuts and scratches on his hands and forearms, along with swelling near his right eye.
Both defendants were placed under arrest.
Corrections officers at the jail located suspected marijuana in Mr. Connelly’s pocket. Further charges of illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility, possession of marijuana, child endangering and domestic violence have been forwarded to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office.
Further charges of child endangering for Mrs. Connelly also were forwarded to the prosecutor’s office.
