Joshua Persinger, 33, of Marion, was charged with felony tampering with evidence, felony possession of a controlled substance and disorderly conduct following an incident Thursday evening in the area of the Russells Point Harbor Bridge.
Officers were dispatched to the bridge about 9:45 p.m. in reference to an intoxicated subject possibly overdosing.
Officers observed Persinger sitting on a bench, and he reportedly threw a plastic bag and a folded up piece of paper into the grass. The items were located by officers, and they found that one bag contained marijuana and the other contained heroin.
The defendant showed signs that he was overdosing, and Indian Lake EMS responded and he initially refused Narcan. Persinger then changed his mind and was given a dose of Narcan.
He was transported to the Logan County Jail.
Witnesses in the area stated Persinger had thrown a syringe into Indian Lake and an unknown item in a grassy area near several trees. Waynesfield Police and K9 Hunter responded and checked the area. Personal items belonging to the defendant were located.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
