Malachi J’Sean Dawson, 19, of 203 S. Main St., DeGraff, was arrested Tuesday for rape, a first-degree felony.
He allegedly assaulted a 20-year-old woman in her Heritage Court apartment around 5 p.m.
The victim told officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department the suspect was an acquaintance of her boyfriend who invited Dawson over to the residence.
The boyfriend left for work while Dawson remained at the apartment awaiting a ride. He allegedly locked the front door and forced himself on the victim.
Officers collected clothing from the victim after she was transported for evaluation at Mary Rutan Hospital. They also recovered an item at the apartment for analysis.
Dawson was found working at AGC Automotive Americas, 1465 W. Sandusky Ave., and agreed to talk with police. He denied raping the woman and claimed they merely cuddled on a couch until his ride arrived to pick him up.
He said he changed out of his clothing prior to reporting for work and laundered the clothing.
Officers took him into custody on the new charge and served him county warrants for rape, attempted gross sexual imposition, gross sexual imposition and four counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
