Brody Fortune, 27, of St. Marys, was charged with criminal trespassing and unauthorized use of village property Saturday following an incident in Huntsville in which he allegedly utilized the village’s lawn mower to mow a property.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched about 9 a.m. Saturday to the area of 6399 Lima St., Huntsville. A neighbor reportedly had observed the defendant using a Huntsville-owned lawn mower to mow a property at that address.
Fortune, who had been contracted to mow the vacant property on Lima Street, said the weeds were too high on the property for his personal mower. He reportedly entered the village’s maintenance building at the park and took a mower to complete the work.
Deputies noted that the defendant also had a trailer with him in Huntsville that he rented from Tractor Supply Company that hadn’t been returned. Deputies contacted the St. Marys’ business about the trailer.
Fortune also reportedly did not have a valid driver’s license. He was transported to the Logan County Jail.
