Dustin R. Harber, 37, of 224 W. Brown Ave., was charged with assault after officers investigated a Friday fight.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were notified of a brawl involving multiple people at Walnut Street and High Avenue around 9:45 p.m. Upon talking with witnesses and participants, officers learned of a cellular phone video of the disturbance which showed Harber punching a woman and knocking her to the pavement.
After viewing the video, officers tried to locate Harber that night but they were unsuccessful. At 3:15 p.m. Saturday, officers received a tip and they were able to stop a sport utility vehicle Harber was riding in on Lake Avenue near Detroit Street.
He was taken into custody and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Husband allegedly threatens wife
Clifford L. Kindle, 57, of 533 Washington Ave., was charged Friday with domestic violence after he allegedly threatened to shoot his wife, Paula, while he had a locked box with two handguns next to him.
Officers arrived at the house around 9:45 a.m. and met with both. A 13-year-old grandson corroborated his grandmother’s account.
Officers took the lock box from Kindle and opened it to find two unloaded handguns. The guns were removed from the house for safekeeping. Kindle was issued a summons as he has medical conditions that require him to used oxygen machines.
Officers investigate thefts
Abraham Alcala of El Pason, Texas, reported Friday afternoon $60 and a $1,000 gold chain were stolen from his room while he was at Super 8 Motel, 1117 N. Main St.
• Debbie L. Nguyen with Nail Expo, 713 N. Main St., reported a bank bag with cash receipts was taken from an office that is normally locked. She suspects an employee took the bag and cash.
• Daniel Rogan, 229 Plumvalley St., reported Saturday a $140 battery was stolen from his camper bus while parked at 717 Euclid St.
Reckless motorcyclist lodged in jail
Justin E. White, 30, of 323 Plumvalley St., was charged Saturday with criminal trespassing, trespassing on railroad property and obstructing official business after officers investigated a 7 p.m. complaint of an off-road vehicle traveling along Plumvalley Street and Clark Avenue and onto railroad tracks.
An officer responded to the area and hid in a tree line as he heard an off-road motorcycle in operation in the area. When White rode within 40 yards of the officer, the officer stepped out and motioned for White to stop.
Instead, White quickly turned the motorcycle and rode toward his home. Other officers in the area converged on White’s residence and observed him trying to put it away.
He was taken into custody and lodged in jail.
Officers noted in reports that White was riding a four-wheeled all-terrain vehicle on June 19 and caused a crash in the 300 block of Plumvalley Street. On June 28, he was reportedly speeding around his residence on an off-road motorcycle.
