Madalene Irene “Maddie” Sharp, 73, of Kenton, passed away at 7:27 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2016, at her daughter’s residence.
She was born Feb. 22, 1943, to the late Benjamin Franklin and Mildred Estella Horn Coyer. She married Charles Wallace in June 1960 and they divorced. She then married Richard Sharp and he preceded her in death in 2010.
Surviving are two daughters, Jeannie (Gary) Brill of Byhalia and Mildred “Mille” (Carl Shields) Robinson of Bellefontaine; nine grandchildren, Charles (Amber) Wallace, Katie Johnson, Kimberly Tackett, Dalton Tackett, Luke Brill, Sara Brill, Christian Deyo, Shane Deyo and Damian Deyo; eight great-grandchildren, Mykenzie Lance, Jakob Wallace, Samara Deyo, Trey Deyo, Kaselynn Deyo, Cora Deyo, Saiya Deyo and Willow Petty; three brothers, Frank Coyer of Alger and Marion Lee Coyer and Clarence “Buddy” Coyer, both of Bellefontaine; two sisters, Florence Ellis of Kenton and Margaret (Kenneth) Frazier of Huntsville; and sister-in-law, Norma Coyer.
Two brothers, Ralph and Jack Coyer, and a sister, Viola Craig, also preceded her in death.
She retired from Kroger following 20-plus years of service. Maddie had also owned a gift shop in Kenton and worked as a cook at the Elks. She held memberships in the Elks, Moose, Eagles, AMVETS and the Red Hats, and was a member of the Mt. Victory First United Methodist Church.
She loved to fish and bowl and will be remembered for her cooking, baking and especially her homemade noodles at the Mt. Victory Car Show. Her most treasured time was spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home, 200 E. Columbus St., Kenton, with Pastor J.Mac Geissinger officiating. Burial follows in the Byhalia Cemetery. Visitation is from 1 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 2, at the funeral home.
