Lois Christina Helfenstine, 77, of East Liberty, passed away Dec. 14, 2016, in Riverside Hospital in Columbus, after her struggle with cancer.
She was born May 21, 1939, in Bellefontaine, a daughter of Florence and Marshall Pugh. Lois enjoyed gardening, painting, cake decorating and home decorating.
She loved to shop with her sisters and also reading her Bible and watching ministries. Above all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Lois is survived by her husband of 58 years, James “Marvin” Helfenstine; children, Lori Jean (Dannie Furrow) Howard of Marysville and Christina (Ronnie) Sharp and Wesley Helfenstine, both of East Liberty; nine grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Roberts of Rushsylvania and Carol Savage of Bellefontaine; brother, Tom (Marilyn) Pugh of West Mansfield; and 17 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, James Michael Helfenstine and a sister, Marion Fout.
Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec.19, in Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, North Lewisburg, where the Rev. Todd Gates officiates a funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20.
Burial follows in Rushsylvania Cemetery.
