The Logan County Veterans Service Commission announced this week that the office at 121 S. Opera St. will continue to make the following precautionary changes until the social distancing requirements are lifted by Governor Mike DeWine to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“While we are still here to serve the veterans of Logan County, our waiting room will be closed to all walk-in visitors until further notice,” representatives said. “We will continue to monitor national, state, and local trends. When public health officials determine the outbreak has ended or when we receive information that containment precautions have been relaxed, we will follow recommended criteria for scaling back our COVID19 preventative actions.
“During these uncertain times, we will do our best to serve your needs. Please understand, we do not wish to make any of the processes more difficult for the veterans that we serve. We must maintain social distancing protocol for everyone’s protection.”
Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with a daily closing for lunch from 11 a.m. to noon.
No state veteran ID cards will be issued until further notice.
The office will be accepting emergency financial aid requests via office phone, (937) 599-4221, and packets will be mailed or e-mailed, and then returned via mail or e-mail. Completed packets will be reviewed by an investigator. No home visits or assistance with clothing allowance will be conducted until further notice.
Claim filing will be handled in a similar manner. Call the office and leave a message and a service officer will contact you to schedule a phone appointment to continue to handle and assess each case carefully.
Transportation will be addressed on a case-by-case basis and will resume as soon as possible, representatives said. By calling the VA Medical Center or CBOC that the veteran is enrolled in, it is possible the appointment may be completed via telehealth.
