COLUMBUS — Three Logan County youths are participating sharing their musical talents in the 2022 Ohio State Fair as members of the All-Ohio State Fair Band and the All-Ohio State Fair Youth Choir.
Qaizyn Café and Rivvyn Café are members of the band, and Breanna Seimet is a member of the choir.
July 22, 197 talented young musicians from across the state moved into the Rhodes Center and began preparations for nearly 200 performances throughout the 12 days of the fair.
The All-Ohio State Fair Band is directed by Brian W. Dodd and made up of students grades 9-12. Members of the band learn and rehearse more than 50 pieces of concert music to prepare for the fair, making sure to perfect John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever!” that closes each of their performances.
The All-Ohio State Fair Youth Choir, directed by Dr. Jon C. Peterson, sings between six and eight concerts each day of the fair. The singers march up to 10 miles a day to various performance sites around the 360-acre Ohio Expo Center.
This year, band and choir members also have the opportunity to reach an audience beyond the gates of the Fair. Led by Director of Operations Ed Gallagher, the young musicians will livestream concerts for Friendship Circle, an online summer camp for young adults with disabilities.
Sunday, July 31, at 1 p.m., the All-Ohio State Fair Band & Youth Choir will perform a free joint concert in the WCOL Celeste Center in addition to their daily performances.
