Chad Lump, Logan County Weekday Religious Education director, addressed the Benjamin Logan Board of Education during their special meeting Thursday afternoon.
Members voted 5-0 to permit the Weekday Religious Education van to host classes outside on school property on a volunteer basis for students. Last school year, students were bussed to an alternative location for the program.
Third- and fourth-grade students are eligible to participate, with permission slips signed by parents. WRE has been in place in Logan County since 1955 through ongoing relationships with each of the four local school districts, according to logancountywre.org.
Members also heard first reading of a policy update on federal procurement regulations.
In personnel matters, members accepted resignations of teachers Robert Wolf, high school intervention specialist, effective July 21; and Marice Furlong, high school math, effective July 31.
The board also extended one-year limited contracts to: Colleen McDaniel, middle school math; Julie Phillips, high school intervention specialist; and Jaclyn Powers, elementary school intervention specialist.
Audience participation also included parent Alonna Watkins.
Members met in executive session to discuss employment of personnel. No action was taken after the session.
The next regular board meeting is 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, in the central office conference room.
