Entering into May, Logan County residents are typically able to look forward to opening day of the Logan County Farmers’ Market at the corner of Chillicothe Avenue and Detroit Street.
As many local businesses and organizations adapt and change during the current health crisis, the farmers’ market also has developed a new way of operating to continue providing locally grown and produced items to the community.
The market is moving operations online instead of its usual physical site to keep the health and safety of vendors, customers and other community members as a priority, Manager MacKenzie Myers said Wednesday.
“Although LCFM will not be starting out May 2 with a live market, our hope is that customers will be able to feel good in knowing that they are still able to access their desired market goods from their favorite vendors,” she said of the market that typically operates from May through September.
Online farmers’ market customers can visit https://lcfmonline.com to pre-order their favorite items in a single transaction during the Sunday to Wednesday ordering window.
“Customers are able to browse through products from the comfort of their home, with the product list changing each week moving through the season,” Myers said.
Each week, customers can choose to either pick up their items from 11 a.m. to noon Saturdays on the Brewfontaine patio, 211 S. Main St., or have items delivered if they live within a 5-mile radius of downtown Bellefontaine.
As customers arrive at the pick up site with their order numbers, their orders are prepped and readied for them so that they can quickly move on with their day, Myers said.
During the transition to the online market platform, the manager said the assistance and flexibility of market vendors and other community members have made this switch possible.
“We wouldn’t be able to do this without the support of local organizations who value the continual access to fresh, local foods and products for all members of our community.”
