The Logan County Visitors Bureau hosts a wide variety of family-friendly events and a county-wide scavenger hunt from May 1-7 to celebrate National Tourism Week, with the theme, “Tourism Starts at Home.
• Sunday, May 1, festivities kick-off at The Holland Theatre at 3 p.m. with the movie American Graffiti and popcorn (as supplies last).
Then Monday, May 2, the Logan County History Center, 521 E. Columbus Ave., hosts a scavenger hunt and free hot dogs (as supplies last) from 3 to 6 p.m.
• Marmon Valley Farm continues the celebration Tuesday, May 3, offering a hayride, putt-putt and pony ride from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 per child for
all three activities.
• Wednesday, May 4, is Indian Lake Day, and Spend-a-Day Marina will offer Historic Boat Tours at Sandy Beach Bridge with help from the Indian Lake Historical Society to guide the tours.
The tours will be donation-based with all proceeds going to the Indian Lake Watershed Project.
• West Liberty Day is recognized on Thursday, May 5, with free hot dogs (while supplies last) at Ohio Caverns from noon to 4 p.m. Free tours will be offered at Piatt Castle Mac-a-Cheek and Marie’s Candies 3 to 7 p.m.
In addition, participants can enjoy food trucks and deals in downtown West Liberty from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Friday, May 6, is a First Friday’s Brewfest in downtown Bellefontaine
Stop by the Visitors Bureau table in front of the Logan County Chamber Office, 100 S. Main St., to pick up your postcards and earn more prizes.
• Concluding the week Saturday, May 7, participants are encouraged to spend their day exploring the other parts of Logan County.
For the county-wide scavenger hunt that runs from May 1-7, participants will need to download the app “GooseChase” and then create an account: username, e-mail and password. Search “Logan County Tourism Week” in games and select “join.”
Turn on notifications to be reminded when the game starts. Participants will need to allow the app to use locations while using the app to participate in some of the missions.
Participants can play as individuals or make one account for their whole family. Throughout the week, complete missions listed on the app to gain points. Mission point values begin at 400.
There will be timed missions that will only be available during certain events. Anyone who receives 2,000 points will get to claim the exclusive Logan County postcard Friday during Brewfest.
For every 1,000 points above 3,000, you will earn an entry for the grand prize basket full of Logan County goodies.
