The hurricanes that hit southwestern and southern United States have left much debris and aching hearts in their wake.

Two groups of area residents have made two trips to help with Hurricane Harvey relief.
Doug Reed and Doug Badertscher, both of Belle Center and Casey Hamilton of Rushsylvania took Reed’s boat with them to Houston and Port Arthur, Texas, Aug. 29 and helped evacuate a nursing home through Operation Blessing which provided disaster relief services.
Reed and Hamilton then took off Sept. 10 to return to Houston and the Operation Blessing outreach, along with Eric Modd of Kenton and Matt Peterson of Bellefontaine. They headed back to Logan County the morning of Sept. 15 after providing assistance.
