Local children had another opportunity to break in their Halloween costumes at the annual Ring of Lights Halloween Walk at Blue Jacket Park on Saturday, October 22, which is sponsored by the Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District. Open to anyone from preschool through second grade, the event offered local businesses and organizations a fun outreach opportunity.
“We offer this as a safe alternative to trick-or-treat,” Kris Myers,
Bellefontaine Parks & Rec superintendent, said. “It’s a more controlled environment for younger kids.”
With 19 businesses and organizations handing out info packs and treats, this year’s turnout was the largest the recreation district has seen, according to Myers. Anyone can participate in next year’s event by contacting the parks department.
