Lewis E. Durant IV, 76, of Lima, OH, passed away unexpectedly on February 26, 2024, at Lima Memorial Health Systems Emergency Department.
Lewis was born on June 30, 1947, in Columbus, OH, a son of the late Lewis E. Durant III and Betty Ann Delay Coder. He is preceded in death by a brother, Clark A. Durant.
Lewis married Cheryl Stewart on August 10, 2004, in Bellefontaine, OH and she survives. He is also survived by six children, Rebecca Fox of Heath, OH, Toni Michelle (Brandy) Boyer of Lakeview, OH, Lewis E. Durant V of Columbus, OH, Stephanie Durant of Middleburg, OH, Heather (Timothy) Jones of Cable, OH, and Dustin (Christina) Stewart of Bellefontaine, OH, 30 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and a brother, Charles L Coder of Columbus, OH.
Lewis was a graduate of Marysville High School. He was a veteran of the United State Army serving during Vietnam. He worked for many years at Sea Ray Boats in Florida and then retired from Siemens in Bellefontaine. He was also a Mason. Lewis enjoyed woodworking, making toy chests, gardening, canning, and was very interested in Native American Culture, making dreamcatchers and medicine bags.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St. Lakeview. Private burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, OH with military rites performed by the United States Army.
