Larry K. Peters, 73, of West Liberty, passed away Wednesday morning, March 16, 2016, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
He was born in Bellefontaine on April 26, 1942, to the late Willard E. and Mary I. Rose Peters.
On Dec. 29, 1976, Larry married the former Patricia Ann Peterson and she preceded him in death April 11, 2007. Larry also was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Peters; sons, Max K. Peters and David J. McEvoy; and daughter, Betty Jo Anderson.
Larry is survived by children, Matthew C. Peters of Bellefontaine, Colene (Jim) Phillips of Maumelle, Ark., Thomas P. McEvoy and Katherine L. (Gregory) Amerine, both of Springfield, Ruth Anne Nelson of Wapakoneta and Patricia M. (Donald Hawker) McEvoy of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Dalton Peters, Amanda (Tony) Long, Rebecca Parker, Carson K. Phillips, Caitlynn R. Peters, Nicholle (David) Rockwell, Joshua Shepard, Jessica (Danny) Hixon, Amber Yeager, David Porter, Elizabeth Porter and Johnathan Gardner; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Earl Peters of West Liberty; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and Larry’s companion, Ruth A. Arthur Peters of West Liberty, whom he married Dec. 13, 1963, in Russells Point. They later divorced, but remained friends until the end.
A graduate of West Liberty-Salem High School, Larry worked for Marion Power Shovel and later retired as a machinist for Sidney Tool & Die. He was an active member of Eagles Aerie 2166 and a member of the VFW and Moose.
Larry enjoyed golfing and loved to cook. He was a good father and grandfather and will be missed by his family.
Pastor Gene Phelps conducts a graveside service at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, at Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
