The Edison State Community College softball program has again ventured into Logan County and grabbed a couple of local standouts.
Indian Lake’s Callie Stidam and Paige Schindewolf recently decided to continue their softball careers at the Piqua college.
Stidam, a pitcher, showed her potential with a stellar junior season in the circle. She went 8-3 in 14 games, recording 88 strikeouts in 73 innings. She had an ERA of 2.01.
A catcher, Schindewolf was hampered by an injury during her junior campaign. As a sophomore, she hit .273 and scored 15 runs.
Edison State head coach Brent New is excited to add a pitcher and catcher to his collection of talent.
“I’m hoping to get at least four pitchers per year and I told the girls I want to rotate them so they don’t get burned out,” said New. “Callie’s an outstanding pitcher and she’s certainly going to help us out in that capacity. It is the same thing with catchers, I want quality catching and I know Paige can do that.”
Schindewolf and Stidam have enjoyed a lot of success with the Lakers. As sophomores, they were members of a Laker squad that reached the Division III regional semifinals.
