Indian Lake’s boys basketball team fended off a pesky Northwestern squad on the road Friday and held on for a 55-52 victory in Central Buckeye Conference Mad River action.
The win lifts the Lakers to 6-5 overall and 4-1 in the CBC Mad River. The Warriors slip to 3-6, 1-4.
Indian Lake battled to a 12-11 lead to end the opening quarter. The Lakers outscored the Warriors 13-10 in the second quarter to carry a 25-21 advantage into halftime.
In the third quarter, Northwestern matched Indian Lake 16-16, which left the Lakers holding a 41-37 lead.
The Warriors were able to edge the Lakers in the fourth quarter 15-14, but couldn’t take over the lead.
Austin Parker fueled the Lakers with 20 points, Zander Barnes and Clay Jacobs each had 10 points and Nate Reichert added seven points.
The junior varsity game was also close as Indian Lake edged Northwestern 43-41. Logan Evans led the Lakers with 15 points.
Indian Lake hosts West Liberty-Salem today in a local non-league matchup.
