LaJuana ‘Wanie’ Rose (Freistuhler) Briggs, 81, of Bellefontaine passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 10:13 a.m. at her residence.
She was born on September 27, 1940, in Sidney, Ohio, the daughter of the late Milton and Rosetta B. (Cathcart) Freistuhler. On February 1, 1958, Wanie married James D. Briggs Sr., who preceded her in death.
She is survived by four children, Tonya A. (Wayne) Fahnestock, Jamie L. (Danny) Rogan, Laurie S. Briggs and James D. Briggs Jr., all of Bellefontaine; eleven grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; five siblings, Judy (Mike) Rice of Tipp City, Larry Freistuhler of Anna, Sonya (Tony) Aiken of Beavercreek, Jon (Elsie) Freistuhler of Sidney and Britt Freistuhler of Dayton; sister-in-law, Sandy Freistuhler and brother-in-law, Junior Douglas. Wanie was preceded in death by four siblings, Bob, Mike, Tim and Becky and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Desiree Rose.
Wanie formerly worked for Chicken Ranch Restaurant as a Delivery Driver. She also was a Crossing Guard for Pine Ave School. Wanie was part of the PTO and a room mother for Pine Ave School. She was a member of the Girl Scout Troop. Wanie enjoyed art, croucheting, knitting, collecting glassware and antiques. She enjoyed going to yard sales and eating a sugar waffle from the county fairs.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 13, at 10:30 a.m. at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney, with Rev. Philip K. Chilcote officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 12, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
