Riverside’s girls basketball team dropped host Ansonia 51-43 on Tuesday during a non-league game.
The Pirates are now 11-4 on the season as the Tigers fall to 3-12.
Riverside jumped on top early in the first quarter to take a 15-7 lead. Ansonia took the second quarter 12-7 to trail 22-19 at halftime.
Another scoring surge by the Pirates (15-9) in the third quarter helped push their lead to nine at 37-28.
Ansonia was able to cut into that lead during the fourth quarter with a 15-14 effort, but it wasn’t enough to take over Riverside.
Lauryn Sanford powered the Pirates with 18 points, Kirstin Schlumbohm had 11 points and Olivia Perk added nine points.
Riverside hosts Jackson Center on Thursday for a non-league contest.
