Bellefontaine’s girls basketball team earned the program’s first tournament win since 2013 on Saturday with a 34-29 victory over Greenville in a Division II sectional opener at Springfield High School.
The Chiefs, now 10-13, advance to play Eaton (8-15) in a sectional semifinal at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Springfield.
“It was a big boost of confidence for our girls,” said Bellefontaine head coach Henry Stolly. “We had our best week of practice all season last week and we just told the girls that this was a fresh start. They embraced that and they are not ready for this to end.”
