Triad’s girls basketball team came out slow in the first quarter and that allowed host Madison Plains to pull away for a 41-29 Ohio Heritage Conference win.
The Cardinals fall to 2-7 overall and 2-5 in the OHC. The Eagles improve to 3-9, 2-4.
Madison Plains jumped out to a 10-1 lead after the first quarter. The Eagles outscored the Cardinals 10-8 in the second quarter to take a 20-9 lead into halftime.
The Cardinals kept up with the Eagles in the second half, but couldn’t take over the lead. Madison Plains was one point better (10-9) in the third quarter for a 30-18 cushion. The Eagles matched Triad 11-11 in the fourth quarter.
Cati Levan powered the Cardinals with 14 points and four steals and Frani LeVan had eight points with six steals.
Triad travels to Springfield Shawnee on Wednesday for a non-league game.
