MARYSVILLE — A Kenton couple face trafficking charges after a Union County grand jury recently handed up indictments.
Julie A. Miller, 39, and Terry A. Miller, 31, each face third-degree felony counts of trafficking in heroin, possession of heroin and possession of crack cocaine from a March 10 traffic stop on U.S. Route 33 near Marysville.
They also face charges of tampering with evidence and Julie Miller also was charged with illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention center.
A trooper with the Marysville Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol pulled the couple over after an 8:35 p.m. traffic violation and began asking questions of them separately. Their inconsistent answers and other behavior led to a search of the car during which crack cocaine was found inside.
Both were taken to the Tri-County Regional Jail in Mechanicsburg where staff administered a full body X-ray of the suspects.
Based on abnormalities with Julie Miller’s scan, jail staff conducted a body cavity search and recovered a crack pipe, more crack cocaine and 91 individual units of heroin from inside the female suspect.
The trooper reviewed in-cruiser video and observed the female suspect concealing the drugs as she was seated in the rear seat during the search of the Miller car.
