Keith W. Montgomery, 62, of East Liberty, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus surrounded by his loving family.
Born Sept. 15, 1954, in Bellefontaine, he was the son of Charles and Ruby McColloch Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his father in 2011.
A 1972 graduate of Benjamin Logan High School, Keith was a process operator with Scotts for 40 years. He was also a member of the Perry Township Fire Department for 44 years, serving as fire chief for the past 19 years. He sat on the Perry Township Zoning Appeals Board and was active with the East Liberty Fireworks.
He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, watching sports and westerns on TV and formerly coached youth baseball, soccer and football.
On Sept. 6, 1980, he married his wife of 36 years, the former Virginia “Ginny” Wilcox, and she survives in East Liberty. Keith is also survived by his mother, Ruby Montgomery of East Liberty; a son, Mitchell (Krystle) Current of East Liberty; grandchildren, Victoria (Dillon Harrison) Current, Toby Current and Mitchell Current Jr.; a great-grandson, Aiden Harrison; a sister, Nancy (Dan) Pry of Howard; mother-in-law, Peggy Wilcox; a sister-in-law, Sandy (Robert “Pup” McColloch) Wilcox; nieces, Jessica (JD) Gibson and Nicole (Mike) Kolberg; nephew, Scott (Jenelle) Pry; great-nieces, Kaelin, Payton, Brooklyn and Reagan; great-nephews, Kane, Chase and Blake; and numerous cousins and friends.
Calling is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, at the Wilson Funeral Home-Schnurrenberger Chapel, 222 W. Center St., West Mansfield.
A memorial service begins at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Perry Township Fire Department, 3265 State St., East Liberty, with Pastor Linda Dulin-Moore will officiating. Burial follows at the East Liberty Cemetery.
