Becoming a varsity volleyball coach was not on Annie Kauffman’s radar until a position came open that was too good to pass up.
Kauffman, who spent three years as an assistant coach at Bellefontaine and has coached extensively at the Junior Olympic level, was recently hired as the new head coach at West Liberty-Salem.
The Tigers were in need of a coach after Rebecca Macy stepped down following three seasons at the helm.
“I have always been very impressed with the community and the culture of academic and athletic excellence there,” said Kauffman. “My husband is an alum and we have a lot of respect for the West Liberty-Salem school district.
“I was not pursuing a head coaching position, but this opportunity presented itself and I felt like it was a great fit.”
