Karen Marquart, 67, of West Liberty, passed away at 12:05 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2016, at Green Hills Community, West Liberty.
She was born Oct. 17, 1948, in Fremont to the late Eldred “Pete” and Betty J. Scherer Bliss.
She was a 1966 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and worked at K.T.H. in St. Paris as a quality inspector until her retirement in 2011.
She was a former driver instructor at Fremont Driving School and waitress at Wagner’s Country Inn.
A strong Christian, she was a member of Victory Church, in Fremont and also attended Only Believe Ministries in Botkins and First Church of God in Bellefontaine where she often volunteered and was wonderful with the children in the nursery.
Karen frequently packed up the grandkids on trips and enjoyed watching them playing their sports. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Not many knew this, but Karen was a secret animal lover.
She married Rick “Ricky” L. Marquart on Nov. 24, 2000, in Gatlinburg, Tenn., and he survives.
She also leaves to cherish her loving memory her children, Lori (Jason) Bloom and Jason (Patti Ollom) Stout Sr.; grandchildren, Ashley (Mike) Baker, Emily, Hannah and Elizabeth Bloom, Jason Stout Jr., Jacob Stout, Savannah Salazar and Brentton and Tesla Ollom; great-grandchildren, Xavier Bloom, Makayla and Elijah Rowley, Cayden and Ayana Sauders and Grayson Bloom; siblings, Peggi Miller, Norbert (Cyndi) Bliss, Rebecca (Robert) Witham, and Timothy Bliss, Carolyn (Harold) Billow and Hazel Fedowitz; and sister-in-law, Rita Bliss.
She also was preceded in death by infant twin sons, Brent and Brian Stout; brother, David; sister, Joan Marie Zink; brother-in-law, Richard Miller; and brother-in-law, Frank Fedowitz.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, March 24, at the Herman-Karlovetz Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 900 North St., Fremont, with Words of Comfort offered by the Rev. Duane Dunfee at 1 p.m. Additional visitation will be offered from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
