John T. “Tom” Seeling, 49, of Quincy, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, April 24, 2018, in the emergency department at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.
Tom was born Oct. 17, 1968, in Bellefontaine, a son of Joe and Geraldine Zelma Huffman McCafferty Seeling.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Becky Lawrence and Sandy McCafferty.
Tom is survived by his partner, Jill Parthemore; four children, Mike (Shonda Heath) Seeling of Sidney, Pacer (Desiree) Cooley of Lewistown, Adam Seeling of Quincy and Madison Burnworth of London; seven grandchildren, Abel Scott Seeling, Aliya Bolin, Zhane Ellis, Destiny Crumley, Adrian Crumley, Dredyn Cooley and Drezdyn Cooley; eight siblings, William “Bill” McCafferty of Mt. Victory, Walter (Betty) McCafferty of Marion, Ron (Marty) McCafferty, Sue (Rulon) Spring and Theresa (Leo) Hangholt, all of Lakeview, Jeff McCafferty of Belle Center, Robert (Kathy) McCafferty of Olive Hill, Ky., and Tina (Greg) Williams of Bellefontaine; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, including special nieces and nephews, Shaun (Lindsay) McCafferty and Lee (Christi) Yantis.
Tom was a 1988 graduate of Bellefontaine High School and the Ohio Hi-Point JVS where he studied welding. He worked 20-plus years at SAPA/Hydro in Sidney. Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman and excellent grill master. He loved to spend his time with family and playing with his grandchildren.
Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 28, at Shoffstall Funeral Home, 205 S. Main St., Lakeview, where visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 27. Burial is in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
