Jocele “Jo” Mae Frey, 85, of Upper Sandusky, died Sunday March 17, 2019, at Fairhaven Community.
Jo was born on May 1, 1933, to the late Raymond and Ruth Van Hyning Clarridge. She married Gerald Spath in 1953, and surviving are their children Rodger Spath of Lima, Richard “Jake” Spath of Marion, Rita Spath of Delaware and Rhonda (Tad) VanNess of Alexandria.
She married Paul Frey in 1966 and their surviving children are Andrea (Tim) Thiel and Sue (Chris) Vent, both of Upper Sandusky, and Tracey (Teresa) Frey and Anthony “Tony” Frey, both of Kirby.
She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald Weaver of New Knoxville; and two sisters, Rebecca Brinkman of Edison and Sherry Stockdale of Gardner, Mass.
She also was preceded in death by her husbands; her brother, Waldo Clarridge; and sister, Evelyn Clarridge.
She was a graduate of Zanesfield High School and retired from Westinghouse/A.O. Smith in 1995. She enjoyed reading, making latch hook rugs and gardening. She was also a very good cook.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, at Clark Shields Funeral Home, 301 S. Patterson, Forest, where the funeral begins at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21, following calling that begins at 10 a.m. Burial follows in Byhalia Cemetery, Washington Township, Union County.
