Jennie F. Bonar, 100, of Waynesville and formerly of Vandalia, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Quaker Heights Nursing Home in Waynesville.
She was born in Hamilton and grew up on a small farm near Oxford, a daughter of Samuel and Rosa Grajkowski Soltysik. She graduated from McGuffey High School in Oxford and was a graduate of Miami University with a degree from the School of Education.
After graduating from Miami, she taught school for a few years and later became a home economics specialist for the Farm Security Administration. But mainly, Jennie was a homemaker providing for her family.
She is survived by her two children, Arthur (Patricia) Bonar of Cincinnati, formerly of DeGraff, and Patricia L. Bonar of Canal Winchester; grandchildren, Dr. Kim (Kevin Rice) Bonar of Liberty Township, Jon (Colleen) Bonar of Los Angeles, Stephanie (Ben) Gamble of Cincinnati and Tricia Bonar of Canal Winchester; great-grandchildren, Savannah, Genevieve, McKenzie and Caroline Rice and Hazelle, Isla and Finlay Gamble; and a sister, Carolyn Thomas of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by four siblings, Anthony Soltysik, Helen Lloyd, Lou Soltysik and Sophie Le Pere.
Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at the Ogle-Paul R. Young Funeral Home, 3950 Pleasant Ave., Hamilton, where visitation begins at 1 p.m.
Interment follows in St. Stephen Cemetery.
