JOHNSON |
An intoxicated motorist charged for crashing into a school bus last October and causing a serious crash on U.S. Route 68, was sentenced to prison this week in Logan County Common Pleas Court.
James Johnson, 39, of Urbana, was sentenced to eight years in prison for aggravated vehicular assault, a second-degree felony.
Johnson was southbound on U.S. 68 last Oct. 10 when he traveled left-of-center near the intersection of Township Road 190 between Bellefontaine and West Liberty and struck an Urbana City Schools bus operated by David Deskins, 68, of Urbana.
Deskins was not injured. The suspect sustained serious injuries and had to be flown by Medflight to a Columbus hospital.
In addition to aggravated vehicular assault, a July indictment also charged him with two additional counts of vehicular assault; and four counts of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
