POWELL |
A Logan County Jail inmate was charged this week with a felony count of illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility related to an incident that was investigated Sunday and required the response of a medical doctor after the inmate attempted to conceal the drugs.
The defendant, Shawna D. Powell, 31, of Bellefontaine, originally was booked into the jail Aug. 9 on a theft charge related to a previously reported incident at Dollar General, 338 E. Columbus Ave.
Sunday, deputies were contacted by the jail supervisor after suboxone was recovered in the female cell block. The supervisor reported Powell took suboxone into the jail and that she and other female inmates possibly consumed the suboxone.
As a result of the drugs that were found, a strip search was conducted of all female inmates prior to a cell search.
