Three incumbent township trustees who have likely lost their part-time jobs to flaws on their original filing petitions, said they were confused by a new level of attention to detail by Logan County Election Board directors.
“It wasn’t like this in the past,” 20-year Bokescreek Township Trustee Jim Rice said.
“Before, if there was an issue, they might let you know there was something that was not quite right and let you go outside and correct it.”
He was among 21 candidates in nonpartisan races to have his petition denied earlier this month. A total of 102 petitions were filed in Logan County’s 17 townships, 11 villages and five school districts. Elections co-directors Kandie Horton and Adam Brannon say they are following directives from the Ohio Secretary of State’s Office in their protocol.
