SPRINGBORO — The path Bellefontaine’s game against Springboro took here Thursday was a microcosm of what often transpired during the regular season.

The 10th-seeded Chiefs looked sharp for three innings against the second-seeded Panthers, but a couple of miscues in the fourth inning allowed the hosts to blow the game open.
Springboro (17-8) expanded a 1-0 lead to 6-0 with a five-run fourth inning. The Panthers scored four more times in the bottom of the sixth inning to finish off a 10-0 run-rule win in a Division I sectional semifinal baseball game.
Bellefontaine finishes the season with a 14-12 record.
“Consistency has been an issue for us all season,” said Bellefontaine head coach Art Caudill. “There were times we played at a very high level, but we had trouble sustaining it. The trouble for us all year was being consistent in all phases.”
