The Indian Lake High School Music Department recently earned two distinguished awards.
Earlier this month, the ILHS Chorale earned a “I” Superior rating in the Ohio Music Education Association Large Group Virtual Choral Contest. This is the highest rating a high school choir can achieve.
They performed the song, “Hush, Somebody’s Calling My Name.” The ILHS Chorale is 85-members strong and is directed by Tracey Notestine.
In addition, the Indian Lake High School Symphonic Band traveled to Clyde High School recently to perform at a festival sponsored by Music In the Parks.
Again, the ILHS band earned a “I” Superior rating. The band was also ranked the First Place Band, and was the highest scoring group that participated in the festival (instrumental and vocal).
“I am so proud of the band’s performance at Clyde High School,” Indian Lake Band Director Jason Fauley said. “Due to COVID regulations, the band performed in the gym instead of the auditorium and students had to perform 6 feet apart. Despite these challenging conditions, they were able to adapt and adjust and I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
The ILHS Marching Band is now preparing to perform at the Lakeview Memorial Day Parade.
