But he never gave up, which was his advice to the Indian Lake High School Class of 2016.
The commencement speaker recounted how as student at Indian Lake he collaborated with others to write a song about the high school for a contest.
His team members were confident they’d win, but, alas, they did not.
“It was the first song I wrote or cowrote,” he told the 137 graduates and their guests before playing the tune.
“OK. I admit it’s a little corny, but I was sure it was the best.”
