Nevin Smith of Marysville, a 1974 graduate of Indian Lake High School, will be inducted into the Ohio State Fair Hall of Fame during 12:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, ceremonies in the new Cardinal Hall.
Retired in 2014 after teaching 35 years at North Union High School where he received the honorary State and American FFA degrees, he has served as the sheep department market lamb superintendent at the state fair for the past 27 years.
During that time, he instituted several new programs.
“Nevin has helped make our market lamb show one of the top shows in the country, said Virgil Strickler, general manager of the Ohio Expo Center and State Fair.
“He has an outstanding ability to work with exhibitors, judges, parents and volunteers.”
The State Fair Hall of Fame has been featured at the fair since 1976 and inducted members who have made outstanding contributions toward making the fair one of America’s premier expositions.
He is a son of Peggy Smith and the late Nevin Smith.
