Indian Lake High School senior Kayla Cummins has a new set of wheels to drive home from the Ohio FFA Convention.
Kayla is one of 30 Indian Lake/Ohio Hi-Point Career Center FFA students who attended the two-day convention in Columbus. She also serves as president of the ILHS-OHP FFA.
A few weeks ago, Cummins attended the Sunrise Cooperative Career Day and applied for the Sunrise University job training program.
She went through a series of interviews with Sunrise and the FFA Council. They offered her a spot in their four-year job placement program, which she accepted.
This process put her in the running as one of five finalists for the 2021 Jeep Gladiator, which the State FFA President has been using to travel this school year.
During a ceremony on stage at Thursday’s convention, Cummins was announced as the winner of the vehicle.
Kayla said she was just glad to have the job opportunity, but the vehicle is a big bonus.
“I honestly had no idea that was part of it. I’m super surprised and excited,” she said.
The Indian Lake High School/Ohio High Point FFA Chapter also received a $1,000 grant prize.
