Dispatchers of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office received a total of 97 calls for services related to icy roadways beginning Friday night and continuing throughout the weekend.
The icy conditions also led to a level three snow emergency that was declared shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday, restricting travel to emergency vehicles only, Sheriff Andrew J. Smith reports. The snow emergency was downgraded to a level two Saturday afternoon, and the snow emergency was lifted Sunday afternoon.
Deputies responded to the numerous calls that included non-injury crashes and slide-offs, stranded motorists and disabled vehicles.
About a dozen crash reports had been completed as of this morning. The majority of the crashes resulted in no citations because of the treacherous conditions, the sheriff said.
