A Vermont-based group of teenage musicians which offers a variety of world music selections performs Wednesday at the Holland Theatre.
Village Harmony, an umbrella organization dedicated to the study and performance of ethnic singing traditions from around the world, was founded in 1988 as a small ensemble of high school singers drawn from several central Vermont schools, rehearsing extra-curricularly and preparing a concert program for a ten day spring tour.
In 1990, the group began hosting summer camps for any interested students and by the mid-1990s was traveling overseas. Today, the organization sponsors 10 or more ensembles that perform in both in the U.S. and abroad.
