Students from the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center are set to assist the village of Russells Point this week with installation of a permanent wall in the municipal building.
A $550 bid from the structural construction program at OHPCC was accepted Monday in a regular council meeting to make permanent a barrier wall separating the municipal building from WRPO radio, which broadcasts next door.
Instructor David Marsteller and 20 students will be at the municipal building on Wednesday to complete the work, village officials said.
Police Chief Joe Freyhof recommended council increase its fees for storage of impounded vehicles, along with golf cart inspection fees to bring them more in line with other local municipalities.
Fee structures have not been updated in more than five years, the police chief said.
An open maintenance position remains vacant. The village will need that individual to assist with winter maintenance and snow removal, so there is urgency to get the position filled. There have been five applicants.
The job will be posted again, council discussed Monday.
Village offices will be closed Nov. 12 in observance of Veterans Day.
The next regular meeting is Nov. 19.
