Brandon Whitt, 32, of Sidney, was charged Saturday with possession of heroin, tampering with evidence and possession of drug abuse
instruments after his westbound car nearly hit an eastbound Washington Township Police Department cruiser around 9:30 p.m. on US Route 33 near Township Road 239.
The officer initiated a stop and learned the motorist was attempting to inject heroin while driving.
He was instructed to exit the vehicle and threw a half-loaded, uncapped hypodermic needle nearly striking the officer.
A large quantity of heroin was found in the car.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Motorist charged with OVI
Kathy Patten, 64, of Wapakoneta, was charged Sunday with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and cited for driving left of center and fictitious registration.
She was stopped around 10:55 p.m. on State Route 366 near Edison Drive and officers observed signs she was intoxicated and administered field sobriety tests.
She was taken into custody for a breathalyzer test. She declined the test and was released to a sober driver.
