Longtime local bowlers Sam Henry and Tammy Overholser were recently inducted into the Bellefontaine USBC Bowling Hall of Fame during a banquet at T-P Lanes.

Henry and Overholser were recognized for both their on the lanes achievements and their contributions off of them.
Henry, who has bowled for 40 years, has a career high series of 740 and a high average of 195. He has a 300 game to his credit, while winning three city tournament titles and five league titles. He was a member of the team that set the T-P Lanes house record for highest team game.
His service to the local bowling community included 15 years as a league president and secretary, three years as vice president of the Bellefontaine USBC and 10 years as the chairman of the Hall of Fame committee.
Overholser, who has spent more than 40 years bowling, has a career high average of 190, a high series of 704 and a high game of 275. She has won four city tournament titles and was a part of a team that has set three women’s house records and a team game house record.
Also greatly involved behind the scenes, Overholser has been a member of the Bellefontaine USBC/WBA for over 40 years and served as a league secretary/president three years. She has also served as a high school bowling coach.
As an annual tradition, the Bellefontaine USBC honored a local high school student with a $1,000 scholarship during its banquet. This year’s honoree was Indian Lake’s Christopher Roesner. He was a four-year member of Indian Lake’s bowling team and was a member of several school clubs. He plans to pursue a degree in education.
Four others were also recognized. Brian and Kay Jackson were named the board members of the year and Ed Berry and Wanda Campbell were honored for their years of participation in the sport of bowling.
