HENRY |
A smooth transition in city leadership began Tuesday with members of the Bellefontaine City Council initially approving a plan to hire one of their own as service-safety director.
Mayor Ben Stahler announced Tuesday that Council President David Henry was his choice to replace Service-Safety James Holycross who is retiring May 4 after 10 years at the helm.
Under the plan, which was given a first-reading, Henry, 49, would start April 23, providing a two-week overlap with Holycross.
Henry will be paid $85,000 a year in his new position.
“David brings a lot to the office,” the mayor told council members. “I think he will be a perfect addition to our city team.
“Your loss will be the city’s gain,” he said to the council.
