Bellefontaine Head Start & Early Head Start opened new classrooms to children Jan. 10 located within Union Station, 613 Hamilton St., Bellefontaine.
Shelly Fannon, early childhood services coordinator for Logan County classrooms, stated that there are openings available for children ages 0-5 in the new classrooms.
She also urged those seeking a career in early childhood education to apply. CORS has programs for eligible candidates to earn credentials and degrees at no cost to them.
Head Start programs are offered at no cost to eligible families, and includes options of classroom placement or home-based options.
For those interested in home-based options, dedicated staff weekly visit children and pregnant mothers in their homes and work with the parent as the child’s primary teacher.
Home-based programs also provide group socialization experiences to parents and children to help prepare for a classroom setting and ease the transition into kindergarten or support 0-5 home schooling.
Head Start works towards kindergarten readiness for all children and supports families with the educational, social and mental health resources needed to reach economic independence. Programs support and strengthen parent-child relationships and engage families around children’s learning and development.
Anyone regardless of income anyone may apply. Head Start accepts eligible families under 130 percent of the current poverty guidelines, families in transitional housing, foster families, and those with special qualifiers such as SSI or OWF.
CORS, the grantee for Head Start, operates the Early Childhood Programs in Logan County. All CORS Head Start classrooms are licensed by Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services, and all are currently 5-Star SUTQ rated, the highest rating for early learning and development.
Teachers, home visitors and family advocates are credentialed professionals who have met rigorous education and training guidelines and they are dedicated to the mission of empowering individuals and families to achieve stability, hope and confidence.
