Gwendolyn Mortimore Burton, 89, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022.
Born in West Mansfield, she was a daughter of the late Harold Alouzo and Thelma Kleffman Mortimore. In her childhood, she attended North Greenfield United Methodist Church and sang in the youth choir. Gwendolyn went to Perry Township School in East Liberty and graduated in 1949 or 1950.
She was a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church and the church Alter Guild. She retired as an audit clerk from Sears-Roebuck Company. She enjoyed playing the piano and loved reading books.
Surviving are her daughters, Deonne Gunderson (John) of Spartanburg, Diane Williamson (J.C.) of Lexington, Denise Burton of Georgia, Sarah Towns (Paul) of Elgin, Grace Burton of Irmo; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur Mortimore of Bellefontaine. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas C. Burton Jr.; brother, Eugene Mortimore; and a sister, Jacqueline Stevens.
