A number of students at the Mac-A-Cheek Learning Center in Bellefontaine recently utilized their writing, drawing and other creative talents to pen a book about their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenging times as a way to help others in the community.
This week, students and staff gathered for a celebration, complete with cake and balloons, to the mark the launch of their book, MAC Kids Straight Talk — Surviving COVID, Change and Other Obstacles!
Writers in grades K-12 offered advice on “coping with what life offers, both good and bad,” school officials said.
A total of 30 students and staff combined efforts on the book that involved an eight-week process of writing, drawing and numerous edits. Students learned about the process of writing and publishing a book.
“We would like to thank all the MAC staff, students and our editors Gail and Jessica Friend,” school representatives said.
Robyn Wunderle was an illustrator for the book, whose ideas “brought life to our drawings,” representatives said in a Facebook post.
