Deputies responded about 6:50 a.m. Tuesday to Riverside Campground, 3839 S. State Route 235, Quincy, on a report of suspicious vehicles driving around the campground.
When deputies arrived, they found that suspect(s) had moved three golf carts and a large lawn mower along the campground entrance. The golf carts and mower appeared to be intact, but muddied, deputies said.
The campground manager found that a padlock had been cut off the campground gate. Upon further inspection of the campground, deputies said it did not appear that any campers had been entered.
Deputies also located a fourth golf cart in a field at the southern portion of the campground that abuts the neighboring Oakdale Campground, 4611 State Route 235, Quincy. A crowbar was located on the floorboard of the golf cart.
A utility shed had been entered at the Oakdale Campground.
Further investigation is pending.
