George William Ratliff, 55, of Lakeview, died unexpectedly but peacefully, Sunday morning, May 28, 2017, at his home.
He was born Aug. 31, 1961, in Marion to Ronald E. Ratliff and Shirley Faye Dowell.
George worked in construction for Baker Concrete, Thomas and Marker and finally for himself. He was a 1979 graduate of Elgin High School, where he lettered in football and baseball. He was a private person who loved his family and the Lord very much. George enjoyed anything about history and was known to be very artistic. He was also a member of the Indian Lake Moose and Eagles.
Surviving are his mother, Shirley Faye Retterer of Lakeview; children, Cody (Bianca) Ratliff of Springfield and Eric Terzo, both of Springfield, Nick (Ana) Terzo of Ft. Campbell, Ky., and Pete Terzo of Marion; two grandchildren, Nathan and Khyler George; siblings, Ron (Jennifer) Ratliff of Marion, Dennis (Linda) Ratliff and Brent (Randi) Retterer, both of Prospect, Rick (Diane) Ratliff of Cardington, Beth (John) Boehm of Radnor and Brian (Kim) Retterer of Richwood; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Ratliff; his two fathers, Ronald E. Ratliff and Philip V. Retterer; and his beloved grandmother, Clara Dowell
Pastor Harry Meade officiates funeral services at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood, where calling is two hours prior. Burial follows in the Shoup (Thompson Township) Cemetery.
