George Barringer, 88, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017, at Glenwood Assisted Living, Dublin.
Born on Aug. 22, 1928, in Youngstown to the late Chester and Mary Grubb Barringer, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leo Barringer and Glen Barringer
On April 10, 1982, in King of Prussia, Pa., he married Judith Davis Day and she survives, along with two stepchildren, Julie (Ramzi) Jaraki of Gross Pointe, Mich., and Mark Day of Dublin; five stepgrandchildren, Alex, Adam and Emily Jaraki and Graham and Reid Day; a brother, Douglas (Harriet) Barringer of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and a sister, Irene Patton of Boardman.
He was a 1946 graduate of Canfield High School, received technical training at Goodyear in Akron and studied photography. George was a member of Mensa, Intertel and the Experimental Aircraft Association. He received his small plane pilot’s license and took great pleasure in flying small planes. He was a naturalist at heart and enjoyed reading and watching NASCAR.
Chaplain Dennis Barnhart begins funeral services at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Shoffstall Funeral Home North Chapel, 115 N. Main St., Lakeview. Burial is in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
